For adults, circumcision can be done under local, spinal or general anaesthesia as a day case or one to two days hospital stay depending on the progress and possible complications. Penile swelling and pain may last for a few days before subsiding. The wound will heal in about 10 days but it is wise to postpone sex for at least 4 weeks.
