For my mom with OA knee, cartilage damage with narrow joint space... seeking for injection to postpone the knee replacement operation. Any precaution or examination before Hyaluronic Acid Injections? How much for the treatment including examination if she do it in your clinic?

Thank you for your questions concerning your mother. Treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee in a 83 years old lady, really depends on the stage of osteoarthritis. Hyaluronic acid injection is a commonly used treatment method, so as to ease the symptoms of osteoarthritis, mainly for pain. We do not recommend injection when there is acute exacerbation of osteoarthritis with knee joint effusion.
I would recommend you to bring your mother for a proper Orthopaedic consultation for detailed examination and treatment.
