If there is cararact, ultimately it needs surgical removal to take out the opacified crystal lens. Artifical lens will then be implanted into the eye at the time of the operation, and therefore any pre-existing refractive error can be corrected. There are many types of lenses to correct myopia, astigmatism and even presbyopia. You need to discuss with your eye doctor about all these lenses.
Since i dont have your popo's spectacle prescription, not sure what it is. But usually the refraction will be different after the cataract operation, so likely need a pair of new spectacles.
