My son, who is 26 month old now, got a flu and kept coughing few days ago. We brought him to the doctor and the doctor gave him anti-biotic (Augmentin 457mg/5ml). The doctor suggested to take it 2.5ml twice a day before meals for 7 days. Unfortunately, my helper took it wrongly and kept giving 5ml to my son everytime. In orther words, my son had taken 10ml of Augmentin over last 3 days... My son looks fine but I'm worrying that it may have any side-effect. Can you please advise?

Notwithstanding the indication for the Augmentin, the gross overdose of this antibiotics may have resulted in diarrhoea or other gastrointestinal upset already. Most children can handle this amount of Augmentin without other severe complications, so do not overworry, just be more careful with medicine, you may not be as lucky next time.
This is unusual, since newborn would not usually use his mouth for breathing. I suspect that the baby is crying with his mouth opening. It is important to observe for the baby's feeding, and to see whether he is gaining weight normally (about 20-30 gm per day).
Different organs would mature at a different rate, even for a full term baby. I fully understand the worry of a inexperience mom, do consult a senior such as grandmother, or consult a paediatrician. Maternal Child Health Centre staff can be helpful too.
It is unreasonable not to treat a confirmed case of ulcer syndrome associated with H. Pylori. There are well established protocol in treating this condition, go to a specialist!
