The objects of the Society are:
(1) To promote, for public benefit, the study of osteoporosis.
(2) To promote, for public benefit, the advancement of treatment and modern methods of investigation and prevention of osteoporosis with the aim of bringing relief to patients.
(3) To support, augment and foster, for public benefit, the education and training of persons engaged in the study, research, teaching and/or practice of or concerning osteoporosis.
(4) To promote, and assist the medical and allied professions in, the study of, and application of knowledge concerning, osteoporosis for public benefit.
(5) To encourage and stimulate interest in research in osteoporosis in furtherance of the objects of the Society and for public benefit.
(6) To stimulate public interest and provide education to the general public in osteoporosis for public benefit.
(7) To undertake the following in furtherance of the charitable objects of the Society:
(a) To carry out research work upon such lines as the Council of the Society may determine and to acquire, equip and maintain such laboratories and other facilities as may be deemed desirable.
(b) To publish and distribute, for public benefit, information, papers, journals and publications relating to the works and activities undertaken by the Society.
(c) To provide monetary assistance for, and make donations of all kinds to, students, medical practitioners, scientists and other persons for the purposes of research and study, for public benefit, in osteoporosis, or for the purposes of teaching and demonstrating their professional skill, for public benefit, in the knowledge of osteoporosis.
(d) To co-ordinate and correlate, for public benefit, the efforts of organisations, companies, associations, societies, institutions, statutory bodies and other authorities and individuals interested or engaged in the study of, or practice concerning, osteoporosis.
(e) To promote, co-operate with, donate to and give monetary and other assistance to, charitable associations, institutions and organisations with objects of charitable nature and beneficial to the Hong Kong community and substantially similar to the objects of the Society, for public benefit, provided that, the Society may not support any object, regulation, restriction or condition which, if an object of the Society, would make it a trade union.
(f) To solicit, enlist and receive, for the purpose of achieving the objects of the Society as far as the law will permit and subject to the provisions of any relevant statute, regulation or law and/or any licence issued in pursuance thereof, financial and other aid, subscriptions, donations and bequests from individuals, companies, trusts and other organisations or authorities, and from Governments and public bodies.
(g) To borrow or raise money, and give security for money borrowed or raised, for the purposes of the Society, by the issue of, or upon bonds, debentures, bills of exchange, promissory notes and other obligations, or securities of the Society, or by mortgage or charge upon all or any part of the property of the Society.
(h) To purchase, take on lease, or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real or personal property, and any rights or privileges which the Society may think necessary or convenient for the purposes of the Society.
(i) To employ clerks, servants and professional or non-professional advisers or consultants whose service may be deemed necessary or desirable for the purpose of the operations of the Society (but subject always to the provisions of clause 4 of this Memorandum of Association).
(8) To accept any gift, endowment, bequest or devise made to the Society generally or for the purpose of any specific object.
(9) To open and operate any banking accounts with any banks for the purposes of the Society.
(10) To make, rescind, add to and/or amend such bylaws and regulations not inconsistent with any ordinance or with the Articles of Association of the Society for the time being in force for the regulation or control of any of the property or affairs of the Society as deemed necessary or desirable by the Council.
